Classic American science fiction horror film ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ has been the topic of a remake by American entertainment company Warner Bros.
The 1956 film based on American author Jack Finney's novel is the subject of a remake with American writer of cinema and television David Leslie Johnson tasked to write the screenplay for the fifth installment of the film.
Johnson is best known for horror classics ‘The Conjuring 2’ and ‘Orphan’. He has been recently tapped to write the screenplays for both ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ and the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’.
The last remake of the film ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ was ten years ago, and Warner Bros. is reportedly scaring up yet another take on the 1956 horror classic.
The first film rendition of the ‘The Body Snatchers’ novel was in 1956 from Jack Finney. Subsequent remakes were made by Philip Kaufman in 1978 and Abel Ferrera in 1993.
In 2007, German film director Oliver Hirschbiegel tried his hand at a new take, starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, under the title ‘The Invasion’.
‘The Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ tells the story of residents in a small town who are unknowingly invaded by aliens. The invaders use fast-growing pods to grow copies of the town’s residents.
As the townspeople are steadily replaced by their emotionless alien counterparts, a lone doctor discovers their secret and sets out to stop them. The task is harder than it appears as it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between real humans and their copies.
No word yet has been released on the timing for the film, actors selected to play key roles nor those who could potentially direct the flick.
